S. Robert August and Dave Mathews, CGR, CAPS are maintaining their focus in challenging times!  Both are front runners in the 2008 HBA Member-Get-A-Member Campaign.  Robert, who has earned 1,800+ Spike credits over the years, has taken himself out of the running for the 2008 Top Spike prize.  He has referred 20 new members since October 1, 2007.  Dave has just recruited his sixth new member in this year’s campaign.  See details on the grand prize and who’s in the race.

HGTV is launching a new series called Bang for your Buck.  The crew is currently looking for local completed kitchen remodel projects to feature on the show. They are also casting for an expert designer/contractor who would compare and analyze each project. Filming is set to begin the first week of June.  See the HGTV notice

Get ready to enter the 10th Annual Colorado C.A.R.E. Awards! This is the largest awards program in Colorado to focus exclusively on the remodeling industry.  Each year this program recognizes excellence in design and construction of residential and light commercial remodeling and renovation projects.  Learn how the C.A.R.E. program can benefit your company.  Presenters are Doug Walters and Phil Wegener.

Charles J. Clarke, III will conduct a full day training session on his newest topic, “Bulls, Owls, Lambs & Tigers®:  Personality Selling and Personality Marketing” is based on the fact that people are different.  The speaker will demonstrate proven techniques that will work with 90% accuracy.

Taught by authorized OSHA outreach instructors, this course will cover Safety Policy, Electrical Power & Power Cords, Ladders Scaffolding, PPE - Personal Protection Equipment, Fall Protection, Access & Housekeeping, Motor Vehicles, Power & Hand Tools and Excavations & Trenching.  The class size must be limited to 50.  Please get your registration in as soon as possible.  Priority will be given to HBA members.  Reservations must be paid in advance. You must attend both days to be certified.

Adrienne Zoble, author of The Do-able Marketing Plan workbook, will discuss strategies that including savvy spending, focus and continuity, increasing referrals, sales follow-up, consistent communication, and much more!

S. Robert August, S. Robert August & Company, will discuss getting tangible results from these proven closing techniques:  Written Instructive, Higher Authority, Executive Co-op, Interim, and Similar Situation.

Training encompassing both commercial and residential energy codes, specifically the 2003 or 2006 versions of the International Energy Conservation Code (2006 IECC or 2003 IECC) will be delivered by the International Code Council (ICC) to Colorado code officials, homebuilders, developers, architects, engineers and other building industry professionals.  Attendees will receive official code books, work book resources and continuing technical assistance from ICC.  Attendees are eligible to receive 6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Trainer Don Sivigny, an Energy Specialist/Sr. Building Code Representative for the Minnesota Departments of Administration and Construction Codes and Licensing, is an expert in the IRC, IECC, and IZC.
