Founded in 1993, the Home Builders Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Home Builders Association of Metro Denver. The mission of the Foundation is to use the unique resources of the Denver metro home building industry to provide accessible and improved housing environments for individuals and families affected by long-term disabilities.
To accomplish this mission, the Foundation brings together Home Builders of Metro Denver members and pairs their skills and resources with families in need of home renovations. This partnership is a great way for the home building industry to give back to the Denver metro community by doing what they do best, build homes.
In 2007, the Foundation’s volunteers completed 40 projects, with a total value of nearly $600,000. Projects include everything from building a wheelchair ramp, remodeling a kitchen or bathroom to accommodate accessibility needs to fully constructing an addition to a home. Beneficiaries of the Foundation’s work often comment that their quality of life has improved tremendously because they have more independence and the opportunity to fully navigate their home.
