Regulated Utilities Committee

The Regulated Utilities Committee is a forum for HBA members to maintain positive relations and dialogue with local dry utility representatives, including Xcel Energy, IREA, United Power, Qwest, Comcast and AT&T, as well as the contractors involved in utility installation.

The committee discusses issues concerning land development, home building and utility coordination as well as issues concerning timely scheduling, costs, regulation and education regarding utility installation.  From time to time information is introduced by the utilities that makes builder and developer participation in this committee a must, and the utilities routinely gained important insights about potential service issues from builders and developers.

Through the committee on October 21, 2011, Xcel Energy released an updated staff contact sheet of their business infrastructure for design and construction issues, which can be downloaded here.  Additionally, SiteWise released their contact list for Xcel, United Power and Source Gas service laterals, which can be downloaded here.

The useful publication, Dry Utilities Service Guidelines for Developers and Builders, was developed by the HBA’s Regulated Utilities Committee to educate developers and builders working in the metro Denver area about the process for providing dry utility services to their end users.

The committee meets quarterly on the second Tuesday of the last month of each quarter (March, June, September and December) at 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the HBA North Conference Room
