Metro Housing Coalition Endorsements

What does the Metro Housing Coaltion (MHC) do?

The MHC interviews and supports political candidates in the eight-county Denver metro region who will support a vibrant and affordable housing market. The MHC also participates in state and local elections related to the housing industry, including school-bond campaigns, ballot initiatives and referenda.

The Metro Housing Coalition regularly sponsors candidate and issue forums to provide HBA members with opportunities to stay informed about the political environment and policy items of impact to the home building industry.

The 2011 election cycle was a busy one. The MHC devoted numerous hours to the spring election cycle focusing on the Denver Mayoral and City Council races and the Castle Rock races. Immediately following the spring elections, work toward the fall elections started with the focus on the Aurora Mayoral and City Council races, the City of Thornton Mayoral and City Council races, the City and County of Broomfield Mayoral and City Council races and the Mayoral races in Arvada, Lakewood and Longmont.

County elections are held only in even-numbered years. During the fall 2010 elections, the MHC focused on four of the eight Counties within the HBA of Metro Denver’s chartered territory.
