The Council Board serves as the liaison to HBA members with a mission to build and sustain a community that is welcoming, diverse and inclusive. The Council works to bring new members to the association and assist in creating an open and collaborative environment that fosters membership participation. The Council Board of Directors is comprised of 15 HBA member representatives who promote networking and successful business relationships between builders and associates members.
Mission and Goals
The Council Board has established a 2012 business plan with the goal of growing new membership in the association by 24% and retaining over 85% of existing members. In addition to growing and retaining members, the Council recognizes that an actively engaged member receives more value for their membership as well as strengthens the association. To that end the Council is also focused on: increasing member participation in events, committees and other councils within the HBA; enhancing the value of existing HBA programs; and creating new programs to serve the membership.

Among the 2012 initiatives directed at fulfilling the mission of the Council Board are:
- The development and delivery of high-value free programs on current issues, topics and trends

Offering social and networking opportunities to build industry contacts

Delivering targeted educational sessions on every topic from business management to sales and marketing.
Among these programs are: Breakfast with the Board; HBA After Hours networking events and a variety of short, focused seminars offered through out the year.
