2023 Membership Survey Results at a Glance
Thank you to everyone who took part in completing our Membership Survey!
Metro Denver HBA conducted a membership survey in May and June and received responses from 116 members, including 45 Builder/Developer members and 71 Associates.
- The largest group of survey responders were those who have been members for less than 2 years (32.7%) and more than 16 years (22.4%).
Here are some topline results from the survey:
- More than 97 percent of respondents agreed that the HBA of Metro Denver adheres to its mission "to improve our members' abilities to responsibly meet the housing needs of our community, for a better quality of life."
Some of the key findings included ranking the value of the services provided by the HBA:
- Respondents choose Building Relations and Networking as the most valuable, Market Data and Industry Trends second, and Advocacy/Political Influence third.
When asked to rate the core responsibilities of the HBA, respondents likewise gave fairly high scores, including:
- 44 rating out of 5 for HBA staff is responsive to my questions and problems
- 42 rating for HBA is an effective and successful advocate for the building industry in metro Denver
- 16 rating for HBA effectively promotes public awareness of homebuilding and housing issues
- 12 rating for Current committee and meeting structure allows the appropriate level of member input
- 00 rating for HBA of Metro Denver is focused on the issues most critical to my company
In addition, two-thirds of respondents felt that the HBA’s political influence helped them gain access to local and state elected officials.
On issues most important to our members, respondents ranked Labor (Workforce availability and cost), Cost and availability of building materials, Local government processes, and Updates to building codes as the Top 4 issues affecting their businesses right now.
When it came to services provided by the HBA to its members, respondents noted:
- Just under 50 percent of respondents attended 1 to 4 HBA events in the past two years, with another 35 percent attending 5 or more events.
- Two-thirds of respondents noted that they participate in at least one of the HBA’s Councils or committees.
- Nearly 94 percent of respondents said they regularly read the HBA Events and More newsletter, with more than 40 percent of respondents reading The Advocate (Government Affairs newsletter).
A full analysis of the survey results is currently being compiled for HBA staff to review and reflect on how we can better support our membership.
