In Loving Memory of James “Jim” Donald Ferguson
James (Jim) Donald Ferguson was born in Pueblo, Colorado, May 21st, 1937 to Harold and Nellie Ferguson. After his father’s passing when Jim was 7 years old, the family moved to various places to be with family.
Jim attended Denver North High School and was a standout 3 sport athlete, playing football, basketball and baseball. After graduation in 1955, Jim enlisted in the United States Navy. Assigned to the Naval Seabees, he spent 2 years in Guam and the Philippine’s. This is where he got his introduction to the construction business.
While in high school, Jim met his future wife Treece. Although they did not date in high school, upon his return from the navy they reconnected. They were married November 24, 1962.
In 1970 he started his own construction business, eventually building homes across the front range. Through Jim’s leadership, integrity and focus on details, Ferguson Construction garnered a name that was synonymous with quality. The company earned numerous awards and accolades. He was active in the Home Builders Association of Metro Denver for many years, serving as President in 1980.
He retired from the business in 2002, but kept busy with golf and helping friends and family with projects. Jim’s love of the outdoors, especially hunting, lead him to get involved in the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and Mule Deer Foundation. He spent countless hours helping with annual fundraising banquets.
Retirement also offered him time to travel with Treece. Spending time at their condo in Arizona with friends to golf and visiting Hawaii were among their trips.
Jim is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years Treece, his children Mark (wife Morgan) and daughter Sandy (husband Doug) and 3 grandsons: Zane, Mitchell and Matthew. He is also survived by his brother Bob. Jim was proceeded in death by his sister Bonnie.
