CALL TO ACTION: PUC Public Comment Period on Xcel’s Gas Implementation Plan

Important Public Comment Hearing Tuesday, January 20th on Xcel's Gas Implementation Plan

The PUC is holding a public comment hearing next Tuesday, January 20th, details are below.  Commission rules require Xcel to file gas infrastructure plans as part of the Commission’s updated regulatory framework for gas utilities.

The PUC’s hearing on Xcel's Gas Implementation Plan will decide the state of Colorado’s direction on natural gas usage for the next six years. As part of this process, the PUC could limit the feasibility or even phase out the use of natural gas for home heating, hot water heating, cooking and other residential uses. Data tells us that natural gas appliances are more efficient and reliable, especially within Colorado’s climate. In addition, Colorado homeowners and potential homebuyers prefer the reliability and cost of natural gas appliances and dual fuel homes. Its critical that the homebuilding industry provide comments related to cost, reliability, consumer preference and the strong link between natural gas and affordability. Please plan to provide testimony at Tuesday’s PUC comment session.

Remote Public Comment Hearings are scheduled as follows:

DATE: January 20, 2026

TIME: 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

PLACE: By video conference: using the Zoom web conferencing platform
