Reggie Carveth Installed as 2027 Home Builders Association Board President

Reggie Carveth of Toll Brothers, was installed as 2027 HBA Board President at the HBA Annual Meeting on October 29th. Below are his inaugural remarks:

"So someone called me today and asked if they were really going to give me a mic and let me speak…not really sure where that came from (Tony) but regardless…

It's an incredible honor to stand before you as your incoming HBA President. I'm grateful for your trust, your support, and the opportunity to serve this great association.

Tonight, I want to share three things: My Appreciation for our Industry, My Optimism about Colorado's Future, and My Belief in what we can Accomplish Together.

A Noble Industry - I believe home building is a noble profession.

First, we have a noble cause. We do more than build houses. We help families realize the American Dream of homeownership. We create places where memories are made, families grow, and generational wealth is built.

Second, we do noble work. We get to use our hands and minds to create something tangible, real and lasting. And while AI may change the way we work, I don't think AI will be showing up on a jobsite with a tool belt anytime soon!

Third, we leave a noble legacy. The homes we build today will shape neighborhoods and anchor communities for generations to come.

A Strong Home Builders Association - I'm equally grateful for our HBA and the three things it does so well:

  1. Events that connect people and build relationships.
  2. Education that helps us learn, improve, and grow.
  3. And Advocacy that defends, protects, and promotes our industry.

To everyone who makes this association successful, thank you.

Colorado's Future Is Bright - Despite what some analysts and headlines might suggest, I believe Colorado's future is bright.

  1. We have an incredible lifestyle, tremendous economic opportunity, a diverse employment base, and long-term demand for housing.
  2. People want to live here, and they're going to need homes.
  3. And if you're a football fan, the Broncos are winning again!

So if that doesn’t prove things can turn around in Colorado, I don’t know what does!!

The Challenges Ahead - Of course, we have challenges.

  1. Some, like higher interest rates, the lock-in effect and consumer confidence are largely outside our control.
  2. Others, like government approval delays, excessive fees, and unnecessary regulations, are challenges we must continue working to overcome.
  3. And then there's community opposition, where a fixed mindset often stands in the way of responsible growth.

But I believe these challenges also present opportunities for us to lead.

The Key to Winning - So how do we lead and win?

I think we keep doing what we're doing — but we do it more better!

And for me, that comes down to three Values:

Out Love. Out Fight. Out Unite.

Out Love means taking care of each other, our employees, our trade partners, and our customers. This is a people business, and how we treat people matters.

Out Fight means standing up for our industry and the families who need housing. But we need to fight the issues, not the people. We need to listen, communicate positively, and bring solutions to the table rather than simply opposing those who disagree with us.

Out Unite means recognizing that we're stronger together. We need everyone involved in home building to be engaged with the HBA. The more united we are, the greater our influence and the more good we can accomplish.

And there's something these three valus have in common.

They all require sacrifice.

  1. To Out Love requires humility — putting others ahead of ourselves.
  2. To Out Fight requires time, energy, perseverance, and a commitment to stay the course.
  3. And to Out Unite requires sacrificing some of our independence for the greater power of working together.

All of this is Hard. But anything worthwhile requires sacrifice.

So my hope for all of us this year is simple.

That we recognize the privilege of being part of this noble industry.

That we remain optimistic about Colorado's future.

And that we're willing to make the daily sacrifices necessary to make our industry, our association, and our communities better.

Let's Out Love — by taking care of one another.

Let's Out Fight — by standing up for what matters.

And let's Out Unite — because together, we can accomplish far more than we ever could alone.

Thank you for your trust, your support, and everything you do for this industry.

It's an honor to serve alongside you.

Now, let's keep winning together! Thank you!"
