What took you down this career path?

I’ve always had an interest in both Real Estate and Homebuilding.

I started my career in homebuilding as a New Home Sales Counselor with Oakwood Homes.  This provided me a great platform to sell various product lines in numerous locations and gain understanding on what potential buyers expect and want from a home builder.

What’s the best thing about your job?

The best thing about my job is definitely the team that I have the pleasure to work with day in and day out.  The culture that we have built at Oakwood Homes is second to none.

Any advice for a newcomer to our industry?

My advice for a newcomer to the industry is to be open-minded and adaptable, take a step back and look at each situation from all angles.  The greatest amount of growth and development happens when you’re out of your comfort zone.

Why did you decide to be involved with the YLC?

I decided to be involved with the YLC to network with other Young Leaders and help provide coaching/mentoring for those looking to advance in the industry.

Is there anyone that helped you get to where you are today?  If so, who and how did you meet?

David Bracht has been instrumental in my career development on the operations side of the business.  We met when he was hired as President of the Denver Division for Oakwood Homes.

Name one of the most memorable experiences you have had in this industry.

I was humbled and honored to receive the “President’s Award” for Oakwood Homes (Denver Division) in 2017.  I have a great team that deserves this recognition also.

What are your hobbies?

Spending time with family is what I enjoy most when not working.    We can have fun doing pretty much anything.  I have a 9 year old son and we both love sports; I have the pleasure of coaching his football and basketball team.

Name a fun fact about yourself.

I taught High School Mathematics and coached both Baseball and Football for two years while there.  Although teaching education wasn’t the ideal career path for me, it really enhanced my abilities to lead and develop a team.
