Government Affairs Committee

Advocacy to state and local policy makers on behalf of the industry is a critical component of the HBA’s mission. The Government Affairs Committee develops and executes association policy on local regulatory, legislative and government policy issues of impact to the 8-county Denver metro home building industry.   Additionally, the committee annually develops legislative recommendations to the CAHB government affairs committee and maintains a connection to that state-level committee through service on both committees by HBA members and staff.

Voting members of the committee are appointed annually by the HBA President. The committee meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. in the HBA Board Room.

The Government Affairs Committee is ably assisted in government relations, lobbying and community outreach by Steve Ormiston, SCO Consulting, LLC.

Special Resources

From time to time an issue may be brought to our attention that deserves specific resource support on the website.  Look for those issues here.

  • In December 2010 the Town of Castle Rock made the HBA aware that they had received citizen complaints about the United States Flag being improperly flown at model homes.  To help ensure that our members are aware of the requirements of the United States Flag Code, you may download that document here.
